Whenever I’m filming nature and wildlife in some location I’m almost always asked what’s the best camera to buy or what’s the best this or that.
The truth is if you’re just getting into filming wildlife and nature it doesn’t really matter.
I think by far the most important thing is to have a good foundation in the basics.
Just as a strong foundation is important to a house, it’s just as important when shooting video as well.

Kevin, I’m a mixed media artist, too — currently, working on a piece focused on a lion I captured at the zoo (that sounds funny). Anyhow, I’ve seen a ton of reference pieces at art school (which get top dollar) and your photographs (and video) top them all! LOVE how you capture light and shadows, the movement, the mood, the story of these animals. Plus, every detail is obvious. So AWESOME!

Even though I shoot video, I find myself visiting more and more non-video sites of artists. I’m finding that no matter what the medium there’s something I can learn from them.
Thanks for the kind words about my work. I don’t have any real training I just film from the heart and that continues to drive me to improve in order to do the nature and wildlife subjects I film, justice.
My work is certainly still a work in progress but I work at getting better every day.
